Small Field Dosimetry. Treatment Plans Verification and Quality Control in IMRT/VMAT.

The course covers different tasks referred to Small Field Dosimetry, Patient Plan Verification, Linac Comissioning and Linac Quality Control.
It will introduce Small Field Dosimetry through different detectors and quality control systems recommended for standard IMRT and rotational IMRT, besides providing a combination of theoretical and practical concepts.

The course is recommended for Radiophysicists who are willing to update and improve their abilities and knowledge in this area, both practical and theoretical.

Key topics covered in this course
  • Small field dosimetry: International recommendations (TRS 483)
  • Suitable detectors and measurement procedures
  • microDiamond and stereotactic commissioning
  • Small field air chambers, output factors in water and potential issues
  • Influence of dose rate dependency to relative measurements
  • Quantum noise and its importance in dosimetry on linear accelerators
  • Data analysis and discussion
  • PDDs and reference detector issues; signal quality and noise
  • BEAMSCAN System: Features and set-up
