Sustainability Reports

Take a look at the Sustainability Reports and Environmental Declarations that we have published so far.

Sustainability Report 2025

PTW's 2025 Sustainability Report provides a comprehensive overview of the company's sustainability strategy, governance approach, objectives and performance during the 2025 reporting year. The report covers both PTW's own operations and relevant sustainability aspects throughout the value chain. In addition to information from PTW's Freiburg and Umkirch sites, selected topics also include sustainability data and activities from international PTW locations and subsidiaries.

The report provides insight into how PTW manages sustainability topics across its operations and value chain, including environmental, social and governance-related (ESG) impacts, risks and opportunities. It includes information on climate change, environmental pollution, water, biodiversity, resource use and circular economy, as well as workforce topics, responsible supply chain management, product responsibility and corporate governance.

Prepared with reference to the Voluntary Sustainability Reporting Standard for SMEs (VSME) and aligned with the structure of the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), the report aims to provide stakeholders with transparent and decision-useful sustainability information.

Updated Environmental Declaration 2026

The updated 2026 Environmental Declaration provides transparent information on PTW's environmental management system, environmental performance and environmental objectives at the Freiburg and Umkirch sites. It includes updated data on energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, water use, waste generation and biodiversity-related activities.

Compared with the previous edition, the declaration provides a more comprehensive assessment of significant environmental aspects by further addressing environmental risks and opportunities and strengthening the consideration of indirect environmental impacts across the value chain. In addition, the declaration reports on ongoing measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, increase energy efficiency, strengthen biodiversity at our sites and further integrate environmental considerations into development, procurement and operational processes. Key developments include progress in the electrification of the company fleet and planning activities related to the future district heating connection at the Freiburg site.

The declaration has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of the Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS) and includes validated environmental information for the reporting scope covered by the EMAS registration.

Updated Environmental Declaration 2025

This updated 2025 Environmental Declaration revises and expands upon the content of the 2024 edition. It introduces our updated environmental policy, which sets principles and priorities for responsible resource use, greenhouse gas reduction and continuous improvement across our operations.

The declaration also reflects key developments, including the transition to 100 % electricity from certified renewable sources at our Freiburg and Unkrich sites, contributing to lower reported Scope 2 emission (in accordance with the applied greenhouse gas accounting methodology). Alongside updated figures on energy, water and material consumption, the document provides information on how we monitor and manage environmental aspects and impacts within our operations.

While the declaration fulfills EMAS requirements, it also provides transparent information on our environmental objectives, measures and performance, complementing our ISO 14001-certified environmental management system.

Environmental Declaration 2024

Our Environmental Declaration provides an overview of our environmental management activities and resource management practices. It presents planned environmental measures and objectives, together with key metrics on energy, water and material consumption as well as information on emissions, waste and biodiversity-related topics. The declaration is intended to provide transparent information on our environmental performance and management approach.

While the declaration is a formal requirement of EMAS, it also summarizes the environmental analyses, processes and management systems implemented within PTW HQ. These formed the basis for our EMAS validation and the ISO 14001 certification. Together, these external recognitions confirm that our environmental management system has been independently assessed against the requirements of both frameworks.
