New Beamscan Product Family from PTW: Water Phantoms for Every Clinic and Every User

PTW, a global leader in dosimetry and quality assurance for radiation therapy, is expanding its Beamscan product family with new water phantom models tailored to meet diverse clinical needs. Whether facing time constraints, limited space, or mobile requirements – the new Beamscan product family offers optimized solutions for every clinical environment. The new models will be available starting early 2026.

Water phantoms are essential tools in radiation therapy quality assurance – from initial commissioning of treatment systems to regular checks and daily routine. PTW has added two new models to its proven Beamscan system to better cover specific clinical requirements that were not fully addressed before. The new models – Beamscan Speedo, Ringo, and Mobilo – are fully equipped systems, each optimized for a specific aspect: speed, space efficiency, or mobility and flexibility. Together, they form a product family that meets the diverse needs of clinical practice.

Speedo, Ringo or Mobilo?

Beamscan Speedo is designed for high-throughput clinics operating multiple linear accelerators under tight schedules. This ultra-fast, all-in-one water phantom comes ready for use and can be set up for measurements in under twelve minutes – enabling efficient, high-precision quality assurance and dosimetry.

Beamscan Ringo is the ideal solution for clinics with ring-gantry linacs and/or limited space. Easy to set up directly on the patient couch, the compact Ringo requires only 0.79 square meters of floor space – making it perfect for tight treatment rooms and storage areas.

Beamscan Mobilo is tailored for multi-site clinical networks and service providers with mobile needs. Featuring a foldable lift and optionally available validated transport packaging, Mobilo can be safely transported by truck, train, or plane. Robust and flexible, it is designed for reliable use across locations.

Proven Features for Clinical Routine

All three models incorporate the established Beamscan features that simplify daily clinical workflows – including AI-based data processing and a fully automated setup with the patented “Trulevel” leveling function. This combination offers a distinct advantage, especially for measurements at ring-gantry linacs, where the phantom must be positioned on the patient couch and moved into the gantry. Thanks to automation, all Beamscan models are ready for measurement within minutes – faster than comparable systems.
