Gloria P. Beyer, Ph.D.

Gloria P. Beyer, Ph.D., DABR, has many years of experience as a medical physicist having worked for both vendors and clinics. Since 2004, she has worked independently with her own medical physics consulting group in the US (Medical Physics Services, LLC®) and in Europe (MPSi) specializing in commissioning and implementation of new technologies for radiation therapy.

Dr. Beyer remains the driving force behind MPS and MPSi serving in dual roles as the company’s Chief Medical Physicist and Manager. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters relating to various aspects of medical physics and presents regularly at professional meetings in the US and international locations.

Dr. Beyer regularly provides instruction on topics related to medical physics and has served as an adjunct professor at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and at Oregon State University. She has also been part of the faculty team for PTW Dosimetry School courses. She is active in various professional associations in the US and in Europe, having served as an officer for the FLAAPM and most recently working with the WGEBQA Group of the AAPM. Dr. Beyer is a recognized expert in small field commissioning and dosimetry and has lectured, taught, and presented nationally and internationally on this subject.

Igor Olaciregui-Ruiz, Ph.D.

Igor Olaciregui was born in San Sebastian, Spain in 1973. He studied at the University of Zaragoza where he graduated in Physics in 1996. Later, in 1997, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Computer Science. He also participated in two granted research projects at the Universidad Nacional del Comahue, Argentina, and at the Universiteit Twente, The Netherlands.

From 1998 to 2009, he worked in cutting edge companies of the embedded software industry, first as a consultant for telecommunication projects in Lucent Technologies and then in Tasking and Altium where he designed and implemented real-time operating systems for a variety of hardware systems (FPGA and discrete components).

In 2009, he applied for a post-doc position in the EPID Dosimetry group at The Netherlands Cancer Institute – Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL). In his first assignment, he rewrote the inhouse EPID dosimetry software solution used for pre-treatment and in vivo dose verification of IMRT and VMAT treatments.

He currently holds a permanent position at The Netherlands Cancer Institute where he designs, develops, and maintains software solutions in-house and in cooperation with the industry. He has also been heavily involved in research work with ten publications as main author and many more as co-author. He is a frequent reviewer and, currently, co-chair of AAPM TG-360.

He is also a father of two and a basketball coach.

Nicole Brand, M.S.
Nicole Brand, M.S.

Nicole Brand is a product manager at PTW Freiburg in Germany.

Before joining PTW, she worked for several years as a medical physicist after finishing her studies with a master’s degree in physics at Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen. She wrote her Bachelor and Master thesis at the University Hospital of Tübingen in the section of medical physics. It was here that she first became exposed to MR guided radiotherapy. During her work as a medical physicist, and afterwards as product manager at PTW Freiburg, Nicole deepened her knowledge about MR guided radiotherapy and visited treatment sites all over the world. At PTW Freiburg, Nicole is responsible for measurement and calculation-based patient-specific quality assurance.

VERIQA RT Monte Carlo 3D: 3D dose calculation with SciMoCa

"Secondary dose calculation systems should be completely independent from primary TPS. Accurate matching between the secondary dose calculational systems and the dosimetric characteristics of the linac is thereby essential for truly independent and valuable dose evaluation"

Prof. Sotiri Stathakis, Ph.D.
University of Texas Health Science
Center, San Antonio

VERIQA RT Monte Carlo 3D

Advanced 3D back-projection approach
Advanced 3D back-projection approach

“The EPID dose back-projection algorithm of VERIQA RT EPID 3D will offer a double benefit.
It will verify treatment delivery by using in vivo EPID measurements as well as increase efficiency in pre-treatment verification by using EPID images acquired “in air”, thus eliminating the need for phantom positioning and re-planning.”

Igor Olaciregui, Software & Physics Lead,
The Netherlands Cancer Institute - Antoni van Leeuwenhoek Hospital (NKI-AVL), Amsterdam

FLASH benefits
FLASH benefits

In recent years, there have been many studies on the benefits of delivering a radiation dose to a tumor with a very high dose rate of at least 40 Gy/s (FLASH), see e.g. [1], [2]. Currently, a lot of research & development effort is focused on moving on from these studies to routinely available clinical treatments using electron and proton radiation.

AI-Based Data Processing
AI-Based Data Processing

AI-Based “Deconvolve” Function: Gold standard accuracy at up to 5x faster scanning speeds. The AI-based “Deconvolve” function corrects the volume effect in the penumbra region of beam profiles measured with the Semiflex 3D chamber in a one-click operation, achieving an accuracy comparable to that of microDiamond detector measurements.

AI-Based “Denoise” Function: Accurate scans at up to 3x faster scanning speeds. AI “Denoise” compensates for signal noise in microDiamond detector measurements, which can be performed up to three times faster.

TPS Validation
